Having recently graduated from Glyndwr University in North Wales, Sally is fast becoming a very collectible functional ceramicist having exhibited recently at Bovey Tracey Craft Fair, and One Year On in Islington Design Centre.
It was at University that Sally was able to combine her study with work in the industry of other potters. It was through her work in industry that she met the renowned ceramicist, Svend Bayer. She worked with Svend in Devon for eight weeks and in return he helped build her an Anagama kiln in Wales, which she now uses to produce her work.
"I use wood to fire the kiln so the wood ash flies around in the heat and decorates the pots. At the moment I fire the kiln every 3 months, but there is plenty of work to be done inbetween.
I like to make pottery which I can use, so everything I produce is domestic ware - like cups, plates and saucers. All of the pottery I use at home is hand made by different potters, too."
